Impact Assessments & First Nation Studies

Corridor and Linear Studies

We have provided input and completed studies ranging in size and scope from small road extensions to lengthy hydroelectric transmission corridors across Canada. 

Municipal and Urban Development

We provide natural environment characterization and environmental impact assessments for a wide range of clients.

First Nations Studies

We work closely with First Nation communities to ensure that significant natural features, including those of cultural significance, are appropriately protected.

Energy

Wind Energy

We are a leader in ecological monitoring of wind energy generating facilities across Canada.  We routinely conduct biological monitoring of birds, bats, and other wildlife that may be present within the project area.

Solar Energy

We conduct biological inventories, assess potential impacts, and make recommendations for appropriate mitigation measures associated with solar energy generating facilities.

Hydroelectric Energy

We have extensive experience providing biological monitoring and impact assessments of proposed and existing hydroelectric generation facilities.

Construction Monitoring

We provide all types of environmental monitoring and support services during construction projects, including infrastructure improvements and industrial parks as well as large-scale residential developments.

Ecological Restoration

We provide biological expertise to ecological restoration projects including wetland, woodland, grassland, aquatic and riparian habitats.  Our team of skilled biologists has overseen numerous habitat restoration and creation projects.

Municipal Infrastructure

Our team provides biological input to municipal Class Environmental Assessments, transportation master plans, servicing plans, stormwater management plans, construction monitoring, detailed design as well as support for permitting and approvals.

Natural Heritage Systems

Natural Feature Inventory and Management

We have extensive experience in natural heritage feature analysis of woodlands, wetlands, watercourses and wildlife habitat, where we develop a Natural Heritage System as part of land use planning.

Ecological Monitoring Programs

We assist clients with scoping and implementing short and long term ecological monitoring programs and implementing conditions of approval related to monitoring.

Urban Forestry Management

We provide tree and forestry-related services through our staff of certified arborists, butternut health assessors and qualified tree risk assessors.

Database and Spatial Services

GIS and CAD

We employ a team of highly trained geospatial experts who utilize the latest in GIS and CAD software to deliver highly accurate analysis and data for our clients' projects.

GPS and Data Collection

We have the capability to collect highly accurate field data efficiently and effectively.  This data allows for the delineation of natural features with sub-meter accuracy.

Database Design

We have considerable experience designing and building custom databases. Input forms, queries and reports can all be customized to meet client specifications.

Permits & Authorizations

We provide specialized services to ensure compliance with federal and provincial legislation including the development of monitoring and overall benefit plans, permit acquisition, and mitigation strategies.

Conservation & Recovery

We provide services related to species status assessment, recovery planning, recovery team building, and specialized field surveys for species at risk.
