NRSI employs over 30 full-time biological staff, in addition to contract positions. Our experienced and multi-disciplined staff includes specialists in aquatic, terrestrial and wetland identification, habitat mapping and monitoring, habitat rehabilitation, construction monitoring, natural resource management, wind and hydro energy site development, and spatial technologies such as GIS, GPS and CAD.

DAVID STEPHENSON, M.Sc.
___Senior Biologist / Certified Arborist


David Stephenson is a Senior Wetland / Terrestrial Biologist and part owner of NRSI. Mr. Stephenson has over 20 years experience directing multi-disciplinary study teams in the management of terrestrial, wetland and aquatic ecosystems.

ROBERT STEELE, B.Sc.
___Senior Aquatic Biologist


Robert Steele is the Senior Aquatic Biologist and part owner of NRSI. Mr. Steele has over 20 years of experience with a professional history that provides intensive project experience in a wide range of aquatic habitat issues. He combines the ability to evaluate design alternatives with the practicality of hands-on implementation and monitoring of actual construction sites.

Rob is also a graduate of the Rosgen Course in Natural Channel Design and has applied this education to numerous stream rehabilitation projects throughout Southern Ontario. View Robert's CV (60kb).


ELAINE GOSNELL, B.Sc.
___Senior Terrestrial / Wetland Biologist


Elaine is a biologist and part owner of Natural Resource Solutions Inc. Ms. Gosnell has over 13 years experience as a consulting biologist with expertise in inventorying, evaluating and monitoring natural habitats for impact assessment, natural heritage planning and research purposes.

Elaine is a Certified Wetland Evaluator and has completed training in the Ecological Land Classification System for southern Ontario and the Temperate Wetland Restoration Course. View Elaine's CV (60Kb).


DAVID GREEN, C.Tech
___Aquatic Biologist


David Green has 13 years of experience as a consulting aquatic biologist. He has an extensive background in assessing impacts of proposals on fish habitat, development of fish habitat compensation and mitigation designs, and implementation of those measures including construction monitoring.

Dave is recognized as an expert in environmental monitoring for construction and is currently retained by Malaspina College-University as an instructor in this field. View David's CV (60kb).


buttonANDREW RYCKMAN , B.Sc.
___Terrestrial / Wetland Biologist


Andrew is a biologist with five years experience working on a variety of environmental projects. He has worked on numerous Environmental Assessments from wind farm developments throughout Ontario and Manitoba. His experience on these EA's includes project management, background collection and review, report generation, data analysis, four season bird surveys, bat surveys, mortality surveys, herpetofaunal surveys, vegetation mapping and rare species management and impact mitigation.

BRETT WOODMAN, M.E.S.
___Terrestrial / Wetland Biologist
/ Certified Arborist

Brett Woodman has 10 years of experience as a terrestrial and wetland biologist. He manages a wide range of projects that encompass inventories of flora and fauna, impact assessments and mitigations as well as management prescriptions with a focus to restoration. He is trained in Ecological Land Classification System for southern Ontario, Forest Ecosystem Classification for northwestern Ontario and the OMNR’s Forest Resource Inventory (FRI) methods.

Tara Brenton is a biologist with 6 years experience working on a variety of environmental projects.  Tara specializes in characterizing terrestrial and wetland resources, managing a wide range of projects that encompass inventories of flora and fauna, impact assessment and mitigations, as well as management prescriptions with a focus on restoration.  She is trained in Ecological Land Classification for southern Ontario
.

Tara is a Certified Arborist that routinely completes tree assessment and tree preservation plans in both rural and urban areas.  She is also a Certified Wetland Evaluator.  View Tara’s CV (50kb).

___Terrestrial / Wetland Biologist


Jessica has 5 years of experience as a terrestrial and wetland biologist with NRSI.  She manages a wide variety of projects which include impact assessment, flora and fauna inventories, wildlife monitoring program development, and Natural Heritage Assessments for renewable energy projects.  Jessica specializes in developing monitoring programs for butterflies and has over ten years of experience conducting butterfly inventories, behavioural monitoring and migration studies.  Over the last 4 years Jessica has also become specialized in identifying habitats for Herpetofaunal Species at Risk.  She is experienced in obtaining permits under the Endangered Species Act to conduct field surveys and develop mitigation plans for species overall benefit.

ANDREW SCHIEDEL, B.A.
___Aquatic Biologist


Andrew Schiedel is an aquatic biologist with seven years of experience. He specializes in aquatic habitat assessments, fish community studies, and benthic invertebrate biomonitoring programs. He has been involved in numerous planning-related projects in Ontario, including subwatershed studies, secondary plans, provincial and municipal Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Studies.

Andrew is trained in the methods of the Ontario Stream Assessment Protocol, and is a certified participant of the Ontario Benthos Biomonitoring Network. Andrew has also negotiated permits under the federal Fisheries Act, and has worked with engineers to design fish habitat features. Andrew's CV (90kb).
